Description:	To whom it may concern: I am seeking an entry-level position in investigations. I believe that my fluency in Farsi and Spanish, along with my record of academic excellence, make me an exceptional candidate. My fluency in both Farsi and Spanish is perfect for formal and informal conversation, along with verbal and written translation. My desire to work in investigations is informed by my experience living in undeveloped countries, during which time I took 18 months off from college. I travelled across five different continents, mostly to areas which had very little tourist infrastructure, such as Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Russia, Cambodia and the Palestinian territories. While abroad, I discovered I have a talent for languages. Although I am currently only fluent in Farsi and Spanish, I have had conversational proficiency in French, Russian and Thai. Inspired by my passion for international investigations, I taught myself Farsi. I learned Farsi by practicing it with Los Angeles' Iranian expatriate community. I moved to an Iranian neighborhood, and spent thousands of hours at Iranian coffee shops and bars, striking up conversations with strangers. I refused to speak English, and only responded when people spoke to me in Farsi. Eventually, I started conjugating verbs and putting sentences together. Due to the systematic way in which I studied Farsi, I speak it better than the vast majority of Iranians who grew up in the U.S. At UCLA, I specialized in Middle Eastern Studies. I emphasized classes providing me with an inter-disciplinary perspective regarding the roots of revolutionary and terrorist organizations. Although my goal is to have a position in international investigations, I would consider other positions. Thank you for your time and attention.
